Rugby
Daramalan College has a proud Rugby Union tradition, with our first team taking the field in 1962. Since then, rugby has remained a cornerstone of the College’s sporting culture, fostering teamwork, resilience, and school spirit across generations of students.
Our teams compete in the ACT Junior Rugby Competition, playing against a range of schools and community clubs throughout the ACT and surrounding NSW region. All players are involved in preseason trial matches that take place here in Canberra or interstate on occasion.
College Rugby Tours are a highlight of the program for senior players, providing invaluable cultural and sporting experiences. Past tours have included destinations such as Europe and Japan, allowing students to represent Daramalan on an international stage while strengthening bonds within the team.
Many talented Daramalan players, from both High School and College levels, have been recognised through selection in ACT Brumbies Representative Teams, ACT Schools squads, and Australian representative honours. The program also boasts strong participation and growing success within our female rugby teams, reflecting the inclusive and expanding nature of rugby at Daramalan.
Daramalan Rugby maintains strong affiliations with the ACT Brumbies and the Gungahlin Eagles Rugby Club, with many graduates continuing their rugby journey with the Gungahlin Eagles beyond their time at the College.
Community involvement is a key value of the program. Players are encouraged to support the Club through community service, with players and families volunteering in a variety of game-day roles to ensure the smooth running of matches and events.
Our “Old Gold Eagles” alumni network are proud supporters of Daramalan Rugby, with many contributing through financial support, attending fundraising dinners, and providing sponsorship to help sustain and grow the program.
