Congratulations to all the young musicians who competed in the National Eisteddfod last Thursday 30 May. We hit the right notes with the Jazz Band being awarded a Gold Medal in the U/18 B Grade Jazz Bands. This section featured one of our student vocalists Sophia Marzano, who sang ‘At Last’.

The next performance was the Over 18’s section in which they received 1st place. Lillia Bank sang ‘Sway’. The Jazz Band also received the ‘Kaaren Talty’ Award with all bands who competed in the U/18’s sections being eligible for the Award.
Saturday morning saw the Junior Band arrive at the School of Music for an 8.00am warm-up after which they played two pieces in the process winning a Gold Medal. They played two contrasting pieces with all the students focused and playing with energy, precision and spirit.

The Senior Concert Band was next to perform in the afternoon. It was another fine performance from our young musicians and they also were awarded a Gold Medal.

This is the first time that the Daramalan Bands have completed a clean sweep of Gold Medals so the College has created a new music record! I would like to thank all the students for their dedication and diligence. I would also like to thank Mrs Coggan for all her work to make this happen.
