Daramalan College mooters have won the Canberra Region of the Bond University High School Mooting Competition for the fourth year in a row. Mooting is legal argument on a point of law before a judge, and requires advocates to demonstrate deep knowledge of the case and the law, court etiquette and an ability to answer difficult questions posed by the judge.
The successful team comprised Kate Feltrin (Senior Counsel), Jacob Howland (Junior Counsel) and Nathan Hughes as Instructing Solicitor. Both Kate and Jacob also received Highly Commended Oralist awards in recognition of the high standard of advocacy skills they displayed on the day.
The win is a result of months of preparation, and the team was assisted in their preparation by other Year 11 and 12 Legal Studies students: Madeleine Beake, Rhiannon Bourke, Abbey Perticato, Katelyn Pollard and Hannah Zemicael. Congratulations to everyone concerned.
