The Daramalan Theatre Company’s (DTC) production of Bertolt Brecht’s “Mother Courage and Her Children” (translated by Tony Cushner) is almost ready for Opening Night. Students and staff have been rehearsing each week-end since January and the results are another stunning professional DTC presentation for 2019. The play opens on 27 April in McCowage Hall.
Staff members are an integral part of the show and Mr Tony Allan has been working with the cast in helping them understanding the text while Ms Jo Howard has created some outstanding paintings of suggested character appearances. Students learnt how view themselves as being the instrument for performance.
Students have been preparing meals for each other as well as providing emotional and physical support when they were tired and needed a little extra over the last two months. Mr Stephen Colbert has provided additional facilitation of life skills; especially at meal times.
A pre-show Cabaret of Weimar Republic period songs will be presented by Kara Blackburn and the Cabaret Band from 7.00pm. Doors will open at 6.45pm. The play itself commences at 7.30pm.
“Mother Courage and Her Children” by Bertolt Brecht will open on 27 April and play until 4 May in McCowage Hall. Audiences have the option of booking fixed seating or LIMITED Cabaret style table seating in front of the stage.
